State Board of Education

Posted by Tom on March 17th, 2008

Today is the final day to file for elected office.

After some deliberation, I decided last year to not seek a second term on the Utah State Board of Education. (District 13) The decision was made for several reasons, and more recent events have only solidified my decision.

A list of current candidates may be found at elections.utah.gov.

I think you’re making a mistake. There will be huge turnover in the legislature this year. More Democrats and more moderate Republicans will get elected. This will increase the UEA’s influence, and we’ll all be better off as a result.

Tom,

I don’t know that UEA influence will make us all that much better off…but your presence will be missed. It has been very cool to have a boardmember who is a blogger and who cares about the issues enough to take part in the discussion publicly in the “bloghive”…not just in board meetings other strictly official capacities. Thank you!

Thanks Jeremy. I’m still in office for the rest of the year. And although I may not be as keyed in to the official information stream after that, I’ll still be just as opinionated!
